FAQ

Have garage door questions? We have answers!

How much does a residential garage door cost to install?

The price of an installed garage door may vary depending on the materials used for its construction and the accessories added by the buyer to get the look and product desired.

What goes into the cost of a commercial garage door?

For your construction or renovation project to be a success, clearly identify your needs. What you are looking for above all else based on your purchasing criteria:

  • A product that combines strength and durability and that won’t break down every 3 months?
  • Better insulation and weather tightness of your whole garage door system?
  • A product that needs the least possible maintenance, especially one that doesn’t need painting?
  • A very functional and economical door that fits the budget you’ve set?

Whatever your project, before you start shopping, why not talk to a specialist in commercial and industrial garage doors who can present you with the different choices?

Is it ok to paint a garage door?

If you decide to paint your garage door yourself, the following instructions outline how to do it. It is important to note that oil-based paint (alkaloid) with a mat or semi-gloss finish does not exist in the market (unless an industrial paint is used).

Therefore, it is recommended that mat or semi-gloss latex (water-based) paint is used to avoid highlighting imperfections in the metal. Use a synthetic (nylon/polyester) bristle brush to contour the raised panel, and a 4″ (10 cm) roller to provide a nice finish.

How much headroom is required under a residential garage door?

In order to install torsion-spring hardware, we recommend a clearance of 12 in. On the other hand, if there is only 4 ¾ in. to 12 in. available, it is best to use a dual-track system designed for low headroom. When equipping a garage door with an electric door opener, add 2 in. to “standard” lift movements. For “low-headroom” system, you do not need the additional 2 inches.

Why is the chain on my garage door not connected to the opener?

The gear and sprocket have worn out or broken, allowing the chain to droop or become disconnected from the opener.
